Korea Table Tennis Association ‘scores’ at tricky Hangzhou Asian Championships

Korean table tennis has been lucky enough to pick up a few ‘items’ at the Asian Table Tennis Championships in Pyeongchang, South Korea, that will come in handy for the upcoming Asian Games in 2023.

The Asian Championships, which kicked off on September 9 at the Pyeongchang Dome in Gangwon Province, is a big feast for Asian table tennis every two years.

Unlike previous years, this year’s tournament has taken on a different character as a ‘precursor to the Asian Games’.

The 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, which were originally scheduled to be held last year, were delayed by one year due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and will open on March 23.

In the meantime, Korean athletes reportedly had difficulty adjusting to the table at the beginning of the Asian Championships.

A table made by China’s DHS was used as the official table for the tournament, but the bounce of the ping-pong ball was quite different from other tables.

According to the table tennis players, 바카라사이트 the ball tends to lose speed when it bounces and does not bounce well.

“The DHS table tends not to bounce well,” said Seo Hyo-won (36, Korea Horse Society), the ‘eldest sister’ of the national team. “Table tennis is a very delicate sport, and I couldn’t get used to it when I played my first game because the rotation was different.”

Seo and the rest of the national team quickly adapted to the DHS table.

However, the KTA also wanted to eliminate any small variables that could prove to be negative at the Asian Games.

As the Asian Championships progressed and the four tables in the center of the stadium became obsolete, the Table Tennis Association quickly contacted the Korean Sports Ministry.

At the request of the table tennis federation, the KTA agreed to purchase four used DHS tables and install them in the table tennis training center at the Jincheon Athletic Village.

The tables would be difficult to dispose of once the tournament was over. The sports organization reportedly purchased the DHS tables at a “reasonable price”.

Thanks to the quick administration of the table tennis association and the help of the sports ministry, the team had a chance to fully adapt to the DHS table in Jincheon before the Asian Games.

“As the DHS table is used in many international competitions, we decided to bring it to the athletes’ village and secure the table to improve the athletes’ adaptability,” said an official from the table tennis association. “We also considered the possibility that the DHS table could be used as an official table at the World Championships in Busan next year.” 슬롯

Qatar makes it two wins in a row in AFC U-23 Asian Cup qualifying…

After defeating South Korea in qualifying for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-23 Asian Cup 2024, Qatar made it two wins in a row in group play.

Qatar defeated Myanmar 6-0 in the second match of Group B at the Changwon Football Center in Gyeongnam on Monday.

The tournament is the first gateway to next year’s AFC U-23 Asian Cup, the final Asian qualifier for the Paris Olympics.

The top two teams from each of the 11 qualifying groups, the top four teams from Group 2 and hosts Qatar will qualify for the U-23 Asian Cup in April/May 2024.

Qatar, who defeated South Korea 2-0 at the same venue on June 6, have been on fire, scoring eight goals in two matches.

Myanmar, who drew 1-1 with Kyrgyzstan in their Group B opener on the same day, were swept aside by Qatar’s six goals.

However, the match against Qatar, the hosts of the 2024 AFC U-23 Asian Cup, is considered a friendly and will not be counted in the rankings.

Qatar opened the scoring in the 23rd minute when Mohammed Khaled Hassan trapped a cross from the back with his thigh in the penalty area before firing a right-footed outside kick into the top corner of the net.

In the seventh minute of the second half, Tamim Mansur Al Abdullah made no mistake with his right heel to slot home a ball that the Myanmar defense barely cleared before it crossed the goal line.

Then in the 15th minute, after breaking down the Myanmar defense on the right flank, Al Abdullah scored the third goal with a strong right-footed shot into the corner of the opposite goal.

In the 33rd minute, Ahmed Alawi, who rushed into the box, scored the fourth goal with a right-footed inside kick.

Myanmar had Htut Myat Kant sent off in the 34th minute for a direct challenge on an opponent’s calf, while Qatar scored a late consolation goal through Lotfi Madjer just before the end of the match against 10-man Myanmar.

The other match in Group B, between South Korea and Kyrgyzstan, will be played at the same venue at 8 p.m. today. 안전놀이터

KIA Reverses LG in Game 1 of Double Header

After a nine-game winning streak, the Kia Tigers bounced back from a brief hiatus.

The Tigers rallied to beat the LG Twins 7-6 in the first game of a doubleheader in the Baseball World Series 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at Kia Champions Field in Gwangju on Monday.

After taking a 5-2 lead only to see it slip away with four runs in the seventh inning, KIA rallied to win the game in the bottom of the eighth.

In the eighth inning, LG right-handed reliever Yoo Young-chan got the first batter, Socrates Brito, to ground out to second base.

However, Kim Sun-bin changed the momentum with a single to left-center field, and Lee Woo-sung followed with an infield hit that deflected off the first baseman’s mitt to put runners on first and second.

Ko Jong-wook, pinch-hitting, took advantage of a forked ball from Yoo Young-chan and lined a single to right to tie the game at 6-6.

Kim Tae-gun followed with a single to left field.

With runners on first and second in the eighth inning, LG manager Yeom Kyung-yeop brought in closer Go Woo-seok. It was Yeom’s move to prevent a comeback.

However, Yeom’s hopes were dashed as Park Chan-ho took a curveball from Go Woo-seok and hit a game-winning single to center field.

In the top of the ninth, LG’s leadoff hitter Hong Chang-ki walked and Shin Min-jae laid down a sacrifice bunt to put runners on first and second.

However, KIA closer Jung Hae-young struck out both Kim Hyun-soo and pinch-hitter Seo Gun-chang on infield grounders to preserve the win.

Both teams fought hard on this day.

It was KIA who took control of the game.

KIA opened the scoring in the third inning with a solo shot to left by Hwang Dae-in and scored on a double to right by Na Sung-beom.

In the top of the fourth inning, LG shortstop Oh Ji-hwan’s throwing error on Lee Woo-sung’s grounder to third led to a run.

After LG scored two runs in the fifth on back-to-back singles by Oh Ji-hwan, Park Dong-won and Moon Sung-joo, a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly by Hong Chang-ki, KIA scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth on Lee Woo-sung’s double to left field, a stolen base, a walk by Hwang Dae-in, a single to right by Kim Tae-gun and a wild pitch by Jung Woo-young to extend the lead to 5-2.

Leader LG fought back hard.

In the top of the seventh inning, LG got one run back on Park Dong-won’s 20th home run of the season. Park became the first LG catcher to hit 20 homers in 13 years since Jo In-sung (28) in 2010.

After Moon Sung-ju drew a walk and Park Hae-min, who was ruled out on a foul tip, was overturned after video review, LG had runners on first and second.

Hong Chang-ki singled to right, and Park Hae-min, who had reached third, scored on a throwing error by the KIA infield as Song was heading for second base, tying the game at 5-5.

After Shin Min-jae was hit by a pitch and stole second and third, Kim Hyun-soo’s grounder to the second baseman brought home Hong Chang-ki to give LG a 6-5 lead.

However, KIA did not give up and scored two runs on four hits in the bottom of the eighth inning to tie the game again.

Fifth-ranked KIA, which had lost two straight games after winning nine in a row, added a valuable point. 파워볼게임

Lee Ga-young closes in on KLPGA Tour major queen

Lee Ga-young (이가영) has a chance to win a major on the Korean Ladies Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour.

Lee shot a 1-over-par 73 with two birdies and three bogeys in the third round of the KB Financial Star Championship, the fourth major of the season on the KLPGA Tour, at Blackstone Golf Club (Par 72) in Icheon, Gyeonggi Province, on Monday.

At 3-under-par 213, Lee maintained a one-stroke lead over second-place Ye Won Lee.

Despite shooting over par on the day, Lee maintained her lead after shooting under par in the first and second rounds for the only time in her career.

Icheon Blackstone is considered one of the toughest courses on the KLPGA Tour.

Only three players were under par in the third round, including third-ranked Park Ji-young Lee (1-under 215).

Lee got off to a strong start with birdies at the second (par-4) and seventh (par-3) holes without a bogey.

However, her second shot on the 10th, 12th, and 14th holes (all par-4s) failed to find the green, resulting in a pair of costly bogeys.

“When I recovered from the bogeys, I missed the green the most,” Lee said after the third round. “Tomorrow, I’m going to play to protect the green,”

she added.

“Unlike the first and second rounds, I felt a little distracted in the middle of the round, but tomorrow I will keep my focus until the end,” she said.

With a two-day lead, Lee was on track to win her second title since the Dongbu E&C-Korea Land Trust Championship in October last year.

Lee, who made her debut in 2019, won her first title in her 98th appearance last year, shaking off four years of runner-up finishes.

This year, she continued to knock on the door of two wins, including a third-place finish at the Mediheal-Korea Times Championship in April and a runner-up finish at the Haiwon Resort Women’s Open in August.

Lee, who has two wins on the season and leads the money list, made just two birdies without a bogey to trail Lee by one stroke.

“I was frustrated with my play at the beginning, but I made a chip-in birdie on the first hole of the back nine and (my play) started to come together,”

Lee.

Park Ji-young, who shot her best score of the day (5-under 67) the day before, faltered with three birdies and four bogeys, dropping one spot to third.

“It was hard and sad that my game didn’t go very well today, but I managed to hang in there,” Park said, adding, “I will give it my all tomorrow.”

Seung-hee Noh carded six birdies on the day to shoot an even-par 216 and move into fourth place.

Seung-Hee Noh’s focus was unwavering, as he made six putts under three yards. He didn’t make a single three-putt.

“I wasn’t putting well in the first half, so before the Hanwha Classic (last month), I went to a pro who has been giving me putting lessons since I was a kid, and it’s been going well since then,” Noh said, “I’ve been working on the basics like ball position and power delivery.”

Defending champion Park Min-ji shot an even-par 72 for the second straight day and is tied for 10th (6-over-par 222) with Kim Min-byul, Lee Hyun-ju and seven others.

Jeon In-ji, playing in Korea for the first time in a year, shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish tied for 34th (10-over-par 226). 스포츠토토

during defense in the bottom of the second inning, and the game ended without scoring.
