US-ROK Alliance remains strong 70th anniversary, Secretary Blinken states.

U.S. Secretary of State Tony Blinken issued a congratulatory statement on the occasion of South Korea’s Liberation Day on Thursday local time, emphasizing the strength of the U.S.-South Korea alliance as it celebrates its 70th anniversary.

“On behalf of the United States government, I extend warmest congratulations to the Republic of Korea on its Liberation Day,” Blinken said in a statement. “As we celebrate the 70th anniversary of our alliance, I want to reaffirm the strength of our strategic partnership,” Blinken said.

“The United States and South Korea share common values, which are the foundation of our strong relationship, and the United States will continue to ensure that our relationship is a true global partnership, including expanding people-to-people exchanges, economic investment, and the pursuit of international peace and stability,” he said.

“We have accomplished much,” he added, “and I look forward to many more years of friendship between the United States and South Korea.”

This evening, Blinken will hold a video conference with South Korean Foreign Minister Park Chin-jin and Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa to discuss the agenda for the upcoming trilateral summit on April 18.

At the trilateral summit, which will be held at Camp David, the U.S. presidential residence near Washington, D.C., the leaders are expected to issue a joint statement, as well as the so-called “Camp David Principles” 먹튀검증토토사이트 that will govern the trilateral relationship.
