‘Mixed bag of 2nd place teams’ Hyundai E&C laughs, Korean Air cries

The second-ranked men’s and women’s teams had mixed fortunes as they chased the lead.

Hyundai E&C won its Dodram 2023-2024 V-League home match against Korea Expressway Corporation 3-1 (25-19 17-25 25-17 25-16) at Suwon Gymnasium on Sunday.

After reaching the 10-win plateau for the second time this season after Heungkuk Life, Hyundai E&C (32 points) remained firmly in second place, closing to within one point of the leaders.

The team struggled on the day, with Yang Hyo-jin scoring just seven points and committing four errors, but another middle blocker, Lee Da-hyun, shined. Lee finished with 11 points, including a block at every critical juncture to stop the opposing offense.

The offense was led by “Ssangpo” Moma and Jeong Ji-yoon. The duo tore apart the DOT’s defense with 19 and 14 points, respectively, to lead their team to victory.

Wipawi, who returned to the country after a brief absence for personal reasons, paced the offense with 10 points. Wipawi had recently returned to his home country of Thailand following the death of his father.

Unable to stop the height of Hyundai E&C, the Roadrunners’ offense was largely led by Vukiric with a team-high 22 points, but the rest of the team was unable to pick up the slack. With their fourth straight loss, the Roadrunners remain in sixth place in the league with 12 points.

While Hyundai E&C continued to chase down leader Heungkuk Life in the women’s competition, second-ranked Korean Air dropped a crucial point against leader Woori Card in the men’s competition.

Woori Card came from behind to win 3-1 (24-26 25-23 25-23 25-22) in a big match against Korean Air at Jangchung Gymnasium.

It’s been a week since the two teams met. Woori Card followed up its 3-0 shutout win against Korean Air on March 30 with another victory to take another step towards the title. Woori Card has now won all three games against Korean Air this season.

Woori Card was paced by Jupo Matei with 25 points, while Kim Ji-han split the offense with 19 points and Han Sung-jung (11 points) and Lee Sang-hyun (10 points) also chipped in with double-digit scoring performances.

Korean Air, on the other hand, tried to fill the void left by the return of foreign player Lincoln to the lineup, but was unable to stop Woori Card’s surge. Korean Air had a one-man show with Lim Dong-hyuk scoring 29 points, but couldn’t get the win.

Despite losing all three games against Woori Card, the captain remained smiling

Korean Air coach Tommi Tilikainen had a smile on his face after a season-opening loss to Woori Card. Thanks to the successful return of ace Jung Ji-seok.

Korean Air fell 1-3 (26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 22-25) to visiting Woori Card in the third round of the Dodram 2023-2024 V-League Men’s Division at Jangchung Gymnasium in Seoul on Sunday.

Korean Air, whose previous match was a shutout loss to Woori Card a week earlier, suffered a setback this time around and failed to accumulate any points, falling to 8-5 (25 points). More importantly, Korean Air’s three-game losing streak against Woori Card widened the gap to 11-3 (30 points).

In general, it was a close match, but after the 20th point, Urikhardt was outclassed in terms of decisiveness. They were unable to overcome URICAD’s Matej Kok in clutch situations, including the third set, which was lost due to a series of unforced errors while chasing. Lim Dong-hyuk led both teams with 28 points, but his lack of consistency in each set left a lot to be desired.

Korean Air had its own excuses. It wasn’t until the first game of the third round that Jeong Ji-seok returned from a back injury that sidelined him for the entire season until his call-up to the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games squad. However, there were no major changes to the lineup as another mainstay, Lincoln Williams, pulled out the day before with back pain. But Tilikainen made no excuses.

After the game, coach Tilikainen said: “It’s true that we weren’t at 100%, but that’s no excuse. We needed to score at key moments and it was disappointing that we didn’t. Anyway, we need to be stronger as a team. We need to be more fearless in our play. If you make a mistake, you have to shake it off and get ready for the next one. It’s my job to get the players to shake off their fears and overcome them.”

There was some disappointing news. According to Tilikainen, Lincoln will not be available for the match against KB Insurance in three days’ time. However, Tilikainen’s worries were eased by the presence of Jeong Ji-seok, who made his return to the team and looked good in both offense and defense.

Jung started to come into his own in the third set, scoring eight points with a 46.15% attack success rate and 23.08% attack efficiency. He also had two effective blocks and a 45.83% reception efficiency, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from him when he’s 100%.

Coach Tilikainen said, “The positive thing is that Josip came back and played well. “It was good to see him come in and play today,” Tilikainen said. “Just having him back and playing was good enough for me. Now we have to work hard to make him better through training.”

Despite the three-game winless start, Tilikainen says the season is still long. “We still have three more games on our card. It could be more (in terms of the postseason). So I’m not going to tell you how we’re going to do it.”

GS coach Cha Sang-hyun “Yoon Shin-i is still in high school. Considering her age, she is playing her role perfectly….I am also considering changing the starting setter.”

“(Lee) Yoon Shin-i is doing a perfect job right now”

These were the words of GS Caltex’s head coach, Cha Sang-hyun, after the women’s professional volleyball team lost their away match against IBK IBK in the third round of the 2023 V-League with a set score of 1-3 (24-26 28-26 21-25 20-25) at Hwaseong Gymnasium 바카라사이트 on Saturday.

Before the match, Cha expressed both concern and hope for the ups and downs of his star setter, Kim Ji-won. “I expected her to be shaky. This is her first time playing full-time. Even if she was on the national team, she wasn’t a starter. “I’m hoping that the difference between when I’m playing well and when I’m playing badly will be small because I have less experience,” he said. Of course, volleyball is a sport where you don’t get better in one dramatic moment. I will wait for the gap to get smaller and smaller.”

Kim Ji-won was shaky again on the day, with little use of her fastball, and her double-winged tosses were read before they were fired, allowing the opposing blockers to easily catch up to the attackers. After dropping the first set in a deuce and falling behind midway through the second set, Cha turned to Lee Yoon-shin, the fourth-ranked rookie of the season, to take command on the court.

Although Cha did not give her any specific orders, Lee Yoon-shin frequently utilized the middle blockers of Jung Dae-young and Han Su-ji as soon as she entered the court. The tosses from both wings were sometimes short, forcing Gisele Silva, Kang So-hwi, and Yoo Seo-yeon to get into the paint, but given that they were rookies who had just started their professional careers, they had the guts to do their job without trembling even though they were playing ‘firefighter’.

After the game, Cha lamented, “(Kim) Ji-won needs to find stability soon, so that the whole team can be revitalized…” and added, “In my experience, 70% of the entire offense is about two-blocking. Attackers feel overwhelmed when they have to deal with two-blocking almost every time.” “Whether it’s a reception or not, the opposing middle blockers rarely prepare for our fastbreaks, so we used (Lee) Yoon Shin-yi.”

When asked if Yoon’s double-winged toss was a little unnerving, Cha smiled and said, “She’s still in her third year of high school. If the toss is a little short or something like that, the senior sisters have to hit her well to hide it,” he said, adding, “I didn’t ask her to play more fastballs in the second set. I didn’t ask her to play more fastballs in the second set because I didn’t want her to be swayed by my orders, but she went in and played a lot of fastballs.”

With Kim Ji-won’s ups and downs, Cha is also considering switching her starting setter to Lee Yoon-shin. “I’m thinking about using (Lee) Yoon Shin-yi as a starter first. Today’s loss didn’t change our ranking, so it’s still a good situation. I will discuss with the coaching staff and consider whether to change the starting setter.”

Getting out of last place isn’t easy

“We’re going in the right direction, so hopefully we can prove it with results in the third round.”

Pepper Savings Bank women’s volleyball head coach Joe Trinzi’s (pictured) resolve was shattered in the first game. Pepper Savings Bank lost 0-3 in straight sets against Heungkuk Life in the first match of the third round of the 2023-2024 V-League Women’s Division 현금홀덤사이트 at Samsan World Gymnasium in Incheon on Friday.

Coach Trinzi pinned her hopes on the fact that the team played a close full-set match (2-3 loss) against Heungkuk Life in the last match of the second round on the 1st. However, it was a different story, and they were helplessly defeated by Heungkuk Life, who raised the tension. Their attacking success rate plummeted to 29.03% and they committed 22 errors, more than Heungkuk Life (11).

“I’m disappointed with the finish,” Trinzi said after the game, “There were parts of the game where we had the plays we wanted, but we couldn’t carry them through to the end.” The pregame confidence and expectations were gone.

The ‘youngest’ Pepper Savings Bank, who are hoping to escape the bottom of the table for the first time in their third season of existence, are already at the bottom of the table. With a six-game winless streak (6-2 L-11 D), they remain the only team that hasn’t won more than 10 points so far.

It was a good start for Pepper Savings Bank, which bolstered its roster with the signings of proven foreign player Yasmin Bedardt and free agent local ace Park Jung-ah. Newly minted head coach Trinzi secured a 2-1 win over Korea Expressway Corporation in the second game of the season. It was a change of pace from their inaugural season in 2021-2022, when they won after six games, and 2022-2023, when they won after 18 games, but adding more wins is still not easy.

“There are a lot of reasons why it was different from the last game, but we didn’t execute our basic volleyball skills, serving, receiving, and other skills on the court,” Trinzi said, adding, “That’s the reality of our situation. “This is the reality of the season, but it’s something we need to improve on quickly.

“There are certain things that I predicted when I took over the team, and a lot of things are not what I expected. For now, it’s more important to improve each player than the team as a whole,” he said.

50 Days of Victory…Bjorna Shot It

Men’s professional volleyball team KB Insurance snapped a 12-game losing streak with a win over OK Financial Group.

KB Insurance swept OK Financial Group 3-0 (25-20 25-23 25-17) in straight sets in their 2023-2024 V-League home match at Uijeongbu Gymnasium on Saturday. 온라인카지노 KB Insurance won its first game of the season against KEPCO on Oct. 17, ending a grueling 12-game losing streak after a whopping 50 days. The team also avoided an ignominious 13-game losing streak, which would have been the longest in franchise history.

Andres “Gunslinger” Villena scored a game-high 28 points, while Hong Sang-hyuk (11), Liu Hong-min (7), Kim Hong-jung (7), and Kim Hae-min (7) contributed in equal measure, especially Kim Hong-jung, who had five points from blocked shots alone. With 10 points (2W12L), KB Insurance has begun to chase down sixth-placed Hyundai Capital (10 points – 2W11L) to get out of last place.

In a close first set, the momentum quickly shifted in KB’s favor. At 15-15, KB Insurance scored four consecutive points on Liu Hongmin’s serve to pull away from OK Financial Group. The players’ desperation to end the long losing streak was evident.

In particular, Bijena overcame the danger of losing with a ‘flying dig’ at 18-15 when her opponent Leo’s back attack bounced off the hands of blocker Kim Hong-jung. Soon after, Hong Sang-hyuk’s attack failed, but Kim Hong-jung again blocked the opponent’s open shot and finally added a point.

With a comfortable first set lead, KB Insurance continued its focus in the second set. At 23-23, KB Insurance made set point when Kim Hong-jung blocked OK Financial Group’s Song Hee-chae’s quick opener, but Bijena’s back-attack after receiving Leo’s attack well ended the second set. With the victory in hand, KB Insurance ended the match without much change in the third set.

OK Financial Group, which suffered back-to-back losses, remained in fourth place with 22 points (8W6L).

In the women’s division, IBK Corporate Bank defeated GS Caltex in straight sets 3-1 (26-24 26-28 25-21 25-20), led by Brittany Abercrombie’s 42-point performance at home.
