SEOUL, South Korea (Yonhap) – Spanish billiards powerhouse Javier Palazon (Huons) has lifted the second championship trophy of his professional career.Palazon defeated Lupi Chenet (Turkiye-High One Resort) in the PBA Finals of the Hanacard PBA-LPBA Championship at the Kintex PBA Stadium in Goyang, Gyeonggi-do, on Monday night with a set score of 4-3 to win the title and a cash prize of 100 million won.This marks Palazon’s return to the top after two and a half years since her fourth Tour Crown Hae Taek Championship of the 2020-2021 season, where she became the first player in PBA history to win in straight sets.Chenette, who joined the PBA prior to this season, reached the finals for the first time, only to be stopped by Palazon.Palazon, who worked at a supermarket toy aisle and played billiards on the side, traveled to Korea in casinositekingcom 2019 to coincide with the launch of professional billiards, and has since established himself as a successful player in the PBA.In the tournament, Palazon won the TS Shampoo Perfect Cue Award worth $10,000 for his first match in the Round of 128 against Gu Zabok, where he scored all the points of the set in a single game.In the round of 16, he won against David Martinez (Crown HaeTae) with an average of 2.478, earning him the ‘Welbanc Top Ranking’ prize of 4 million won, which is awarded to the number one player.Add to that the $100 million in prize money, and Palazon has now earned $114 million for this tournament alone, making him the first player in PBA history to win the triple crown of championship, perfect game, and best average.”I’m surprised and happy to have accomplished this,” Palazon said. “I lost weight before the season, and I think that helped me stay strong enough to play until 2 a.m.,” he said. “I’m looking forward to leading the Hawks to the postseason in the upcoming Team League.
