The New York Knicks are arguably the most successful team this trade deadline. Without spending a single future first-round pick, they added two ace wing players and a sharpshooter to their rotation depth.
The New York Knicks used the trade deadline on Monday to bolster their roster. They acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Bucks in a trade with the Detroit Pistons. In return, the Knicks received Quinton Grimes, Evan Fournier, Malachai Flynn, Ryan Archdiakono, and two second-round picks.
On December 31, New York acquired OG Anunoby in a trade with the Toronto Raptors to bolster their frontcourt to perfection. With the addition of Anunoby, the Knicks found the perfect balance on offense and defense, and went on to have one of the best Januarys in the league, 스포츠토토 making them the favorites to win the title.
Instead of resting on their laurels, the Knicks aggressively pursued trades and made another big move. The team acquired Bogdanovic, a key offensive piece from the Detroit Pistons, and Bucks, an excellent rotation piece, to bolster their rotation.
Both Bogdanovic and Bucks are excellent outside scorers who are both shooting over 40% from three-point range this season. Bogdanovic is averaging 20.2 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 41.5% shooting from three-point range, while Bucks is averaging 12.6 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 40.1% shooting from three-point range.
What makes New York’s trade activity this season so remarkable is that the Knicks didn’t spend a single first-round pick in the process of acquiring Anunoby, Bogdanovic, and the Bucks. They were able to get rid of players who were being pushed out of the rotation, or who couldn’t get minutes due to overlap with the team’s core, and in return, they were able to acquire a ton of wing talent.
Local media outlets, including Bleacher Report and The Ringer, were quick to point to the Knicks as the winners of the trade deadline. The Knicks, who are 33-19 and tied for third in the East with a stifling defense that ranks third in points allowed, were able to add depth without spending a fortune. With the news of Anunoby’s injury, which he was acquired in a trade on Sept. 9, Bogdanovic and the Bucks’ acquisition will be even more appreciated. It will be interesting to see what New York does next.
