Deguchi, who defeated Hermi, appeals, “I feel sad” in response to attack in comments

He started by saying, “I read the comments and I felt sad and sorry for the players I played against, so I’m writing here.” He

continued, “I understand that you want to protect your favorite players. However, no one will feel good about this meaningless fight involving the country, players, and many people.”

He said, “I’m not saying that you shouldn’t have negative opinions. However, isn’t it necessary to shoot arrows of words that make others sad?” He added,

“It was an awkward game, but all the players did their best. On the field, the players respected each other and fought for their dreams. So I would be grateful if the fans did the same.”

Deguchi won the gold medal by defeating Hermi Mi in the women’s 57kg final held at the Champ de Mars Stadium in Paris, France on the 30th of last month.

Deguchi won after a close overtime match, but the decision was questionable. With both players receiving two points each, Hermi Mi attempted a throw and was ruled a feint attack, resulting in a three-point foul loss.
