Birmingham City, starring Seung-Ho Paik, has been relegated to the English League One (third tier).
Birmingham won the final match of the 2023-24 English Championship (Second Division) season 1-0 against Norwich City at St. Andrews in Birmingham, England, at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday. Despite the three points, Birmingham remained in 22nd place in the league and were unable to avoid relegation.
Birmingham desperately needed a win. 22nd place is a direct relegation to the third division. Only by climbing to 21st place can they dramatically stay up. They currently have a three-point gap on 21st-placed Plymouth Argyle. Birmingham must win and Plymouth must lose to stay up, or Birmingham must win and 19th-place Blackburn Rovers or 20th-place Sheffield Wednesday fail to win and then compare goal difference. Birmingham cannot stay up on their own.
Ahead of the match, acting coach Gary Rowett said he would adjust the position of Seung Ho Baek. He is determined to utilize Baek Seung-ho’s talent to stay at the club. Originally, Baek Seung-ho was utilized in the third position under Tony Mowbray after joining Birmingham.
Roitt’s first choice was to play him in the No. 10 role. The idea was to move him forward from his central midfield role and allow him to utilize his attacking talents.
Baek Seung-ho continued to make good moves and did his best to get involved in the scoring. He had a great chance inside the penalty box in the 33rd minute, but was unable to capitalize.
Meanwhile, there was bad news for Birmingham. Plymouth took the lead in the 40th minute and started to take control of the game. Blackburn weren’t far behind Leicester either, so at this rate, Birmingham 스포츠토토 couldn’t stay up even with a win. 20th-ranked Sheffield Wednesday also scored two goals in the first half to pull away. The tense game ended 0-0.
Seung Ho Baek was the savior for Birmingham in a must-win game. Seung-Ho Baek opened the scoring in the 10th minute of the second half. After a brief period of chaos due to substitutions, Andersson took a shot on goal. The deflected ball found its way to Seung-Ho Baek, who reacted quickly with his head to fire the ball into the back of the net. Seung-Ho Baek’s first goal since joining Birmingham came in the most important game of the season.
However, things didn’t go Birmingham’s way. Blackburn scored against Leicester to take the lead. Needing to focus on the win, Birmingham brought on a striker 13 minutes into the second half after replacing Seung-Ho Baek. However, Birmingham didn’t go too aggressive as they needed to protect the lead at all costs. Birmingham did well to protect Baek’s debut goal, but their rivals all won and they were relegated to the third tier. All eyes will be on Baek Seung-ho to see if he stays at Birmingham next season.
